Sean Strickland: Ronda Rousey will 'f*cking steamroll' Gina Carano

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland has no interest in Ronda Rousey vs. Gina Carano.

Rousey (12-2) has been booked in a five-round featherweight bout against Carano (7-1) under Jake Paul’s MVP Promotions on May 16 at Intuit Dome in Los Angeles. The fight will stream on Netflix.

Rousey, a former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and Hall of Famer, hasn’t competed in MMA since her title-fight loss to Amanda Nunes in December 2016. Meanwhile, women’s MMA pioneer Carano hasn’t been seen in action since suffering her only career loss to Cris Cyborg for the inaugural Strikeforce women’s featherweight title in August 2009.

Strickland sees the fight as a big mismatch.

“Ronda Rousey’s going to steamroll her,” Strickland told Newsweek Sports. “Ronda Rousey’s an Olympian that was a multitime world champion. Gina Carano was pretty at a time when women’s MMA sucked. I mean, it’s still not very good, but when Gina Carano was fighting it was significantly worse.

“Ronda Rousey’s going to f*cking steamroll her, and we’re just going to watch two middle-aged women f*cking going through menopause fight each other. … I don’t know. I have no interest in that. Who gives a f*ck?”

Rousey is widely credited for putting women’s MMA on the map after becoming the first women’s champion in UFC history. She notched six dominant title defenses until she was upset by Holly Holm at UFC 193 in November 2015. She would go on to lose to Nunes a year later.
